Online payment options galore for DDA scheme

With the DDA’s upcoming housing scheme going completely online, the agency plans to provide as many payment options to applicants as possible.

“During the 2014 housing scheme, applicants and successful allottees had the option to pay both online or offline. This time, however, the entire scheme is going online and so would be the payment options,” said a senior official working on the scheme.

Apart from the usual net banking and RTGS options, housing scheme applicants and allottees might also get the option to pay through mobile-based applications and digital payment gateways. “Digital payment gateways have become quite popular with users of late and that is why we are trying to incorporate that option in our housing scheme. The idea is to make the process as smooth for the applicants and allottees as easy and comfortable as possible. However, these options will be offered by the banks we will tie-up with and not by the DDA directly.”

The DDA had recently held a meeting with senior representatives of major national and private banks to discuss the modalities of payment, sources said. During its earlier housing schemes, applicants had to submit the registration money at a bank and then deposit the receipt and the application form at the DDA’s office. The system meant a lot of hassles and endless queues for applicants at banks and the DDA office.
